How to Read Wagering Requirements Before You Lose
Start with the multiplier
The first number to find is the turnover multiplier — usually written as ‘x35’ or ‘x50’. This tells you how many times you must wager the bonus amount (and sometimes the deposit) before any winnings become withdrawable. For example, a RM100 bonus with a x35 rollover means you need to place RM3,500 in bets before you can cash out.
Many players skip this step and assume the multiplier applies only to the bonus. But some terms specify that it applies to the deposit plus bonus. That changes the total from RM3,500 to RM7,000 on a RM100 deposit with a RM100 bonus. Always check the small print next to the multiplier to see what is included.
Check the game contribution rates
Not every game counts equally toward the turnover. Slots usually count 100%, but table games like blackjack or baccarat often count far less — sometimes only 10% or even 0%. That means if you play baccarat with a 10% contribution, every RM10 you bet counts as only RM1 toward the required turnover.
This is where many Malaysian players lose time and money. If the terms say slots only, then playing anything else adds zero progress. Always look for a table called ‘Game Contribution’ in the terms. If it is missing, assume only slots count. Contact support to confirm before you start.
Look for the maximum bet limit
Most wagering requirements include a cap on how much you can bet per spin or hand while the requirement is active. This is usually between RM10 and RM30 per bet. If you place a RM50 bet while the condition is active, the casino may void your bonus and any winnings from it — even if you did not know the rule.
To avoid this, check the ‘Maximum Bet While Wagering’ clause before you play. Some sites also apply this limit to all games, not just the bonus-funded ones. Keep your bets small and consistent until the turnover is fully met. This rule exists to prevent high-stakes players from clearing the requirement too quickly.
Understand the time limit
Every turnover requirement has an expiry date — typically ranging from 7 to 30 days from the moment the bonus is credited. If you do not complete the wagering within that window, the bonus and any winnings are forfeited. For a RM500 bonus with a x40 requirement, that means you need to place RM20,000 in bets before the deadline.
Plan your play sessions accordingly. If you only play on weekends, a 7-day limit may be too tight. Look for the ‘Bonus Validity’ or ‘Wagering Period’ section in the terms. Some platforms allow you to extend the period by contacting support, but never assume this is an option. Always set a calendar reminder.
Identify restricted payment methods
Some deposit methods do not qualify for certain bonuses. For example, if you deposit via a specific e-wallet like Touch 'n Go or GrabPay, the bonus may not be activated. Other times, the bonus is credited but withdrawals made via the same method are blocked until turnover is met. This is stated under ‘Eligible Deposit Methods’ in the bonus terms.
To avoid delays, always use a method listed as eligible for that promotion. Bank transfer and DuitNow are generally accepted, but check each offer separately. If you later try to withdraw to a restricted method, the platform may reject the request and ask you to choose another option — costing you time and possible fees.
